Kutani Workshop

This special Kutani Porcelain Painting Workshop with Ms. Tomoko Sumi offers a relaxing and enjoyable introduction to the art of porcelain painting. Each porcelain plate comes with a pre-transferred design, making it beginner-friendly and allowing participants to focus on choosing colors and bringing their artwork to life.

Participants may choose between the Shrimp Motif or Leaf Motif, with each project designed to be completed in approximately three hours. Those who wish to achieve richer colors and greater depth may continue adding layers of color in a future session after the piece has been fired.

Open to beginners and current Porcelain students, this workshop is a wonderful opportunity to explore porcelain painting, learn at your own pace, and create a beautiful piece to take home.

– Starter Color Set: Kutani Green, Kutani Yellow, Kutani Blue and Kutani Purple

– Funori Medium

– Nikawa Glue

– Kutani Painting Brush

– Prepared Kutani Porcelain Plate (porcelain plate, transfer paper, transfer application and First Firing in Japan)

Items students should bring :

– Tile

– Spatula

– 5 to 6 paper cups (for water)

– Small metal tea strainer

– Bamboo skewer
