IKEBANA SOGETSU

Babyruth Chuaunsu

This Sogetsu Ikebana arrangement celebrates one of human being’s most important festivities which is one’s birthday (Tanjōbi).

And the most important significance of birthdays is to celebrate the annual milestone on the journey to longevity (Chōju).

The purpose of using dried materials is to give the composition a longer display life than using fresh materials while maintaining their beautiful natural design.

The red-colored elements symbolizes happiness and strength while the gold-colored elements symbolizes the sun and God’s power & mercy in the Japanese culture.

Lora Rivera

For Arch. Rivera, Ikebana Sogetsu is her other way of expressing her designs in another art form. “Other than design and construction of buildings, in Ikebana, another form of construction is expressed using vases, plants, dried materials or even unconventional materials. Sogetsu Ikebana encourages creativity and emphasizes the idea that Ikebana can be done by anyone, anywhere, with any material.
